EASTERN CHRONICLE

Eastern Chronicle

EASTERN CHRONICLE is Deane’s first personal project in nearly twenty years, a world music album written and produced on a mobile recording rig while traveling through the Orient and South Pacific Islands for eighteen months. The album fuses live and field-captured ethnic textures, world environments, live orchestra, intricate percussion, native and indigenous vocals, international instrumental soloists and Deane’s love affair with 80’s-era synth-pop and digital electronics in a way that strives to be comfortably intimate and beautifully expansive at the same time.

THE JOURNEY OF EASTERN CHRONICLE

In Deane’s own words…

“It has been one of the greatest joys of my life to write, record and produce this record. EASTERN CHRONICLE has been the wind in my sails that I didn’t know I needed after a long many years of working in other musical realms. One of the characteristics of this record is that I’m working with dozens of international musicians and singers in an awesome fusion of East and West. Some of these people are musical heroes of mine who I’ve only dreamed of collaborating with until now.”

EASTERN CHRONICLE was released on Earth Day — April 22, 2013 — and is available at more than 400 digital carriers across the Internet. Singles were released exclusively first on Spotify and then via terrestrial radio throughout North America, Europe and Asia. EASTERN CHRONICLE was released physically throughout Asia and Western Europe on April 22 as well, and in select music retailers in North America on May 26, 2013.

RECORDINGS

Deane spent eight months recording in the “wild” in Japan, China, Tibet, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand, and combined those captures with controlled studio sessions conducted in the United States and Europe. Additional sessions were conducted in Dublin, Hamburg, London, Phoenix, Amsterdam, Nashville and New York.

Detailed walkthroughs of each released single and several additional tracks can be heard on Deane’s official SoundCloud page in a series entitled “Eastern Chronicle: Behind the Sessions”.
